Why does the name Sarah Palin keep surfacing?

palin-2007-state-of-the-state.jpgLeadership Works.

Gov. Sarah Palin cut Alaska’s requested earmarks in the federal budget down from 550M to under 200M and from 54 to 31 projects. How many governors are saying they want less federal money? She is providing leadership which could restore the state’s reputation after the bridge to no where. Not to mention this fits perfectly with McCain's reform message.

Governor Palin just had her 5th child so she may not want to be on a national ticket. I think she would be a powerful addition if she were chosen.

Here is her story. She rose by overcoming a corrupt political establishment even challenging the sitting governor of her own party. She is smart, honest, and relates to most people. She has a solid reform conservative record. She could sure up evangelicals and fiscal conservatives and draw independents. McCain trails with white women, she could help in that catagory. When her story is told, she will be the add a great deal to the ticket. The best part is that she is a plausible President not an affirmative action pick.

To quote another blogger:

"If John McCain doesn't choose Sarah Palin, he might have to plead temporary insanity."

Not bad. I like the quote. I am a true fan.

As an Envangelical, I want to see good faith by Senator McCain. He needs to appoint someone as VP who is a social conservative. I would like to see an evangelical or conservative Roman Catholic or Jew.

Huckabee, Palin, Watts, Jindal, Melissa Hart, or Anne Northrup would all be good candidates. More importantly they know how to speak to the swing voters of this election--the economically disaffected. I think the first 4 would make the most credible President which is important when your candidate is over 70.

Condi Rice would fit the bill well, but she is so tied to the administration even though she is the most popular member, Senator McCain may not want to touch that one.

A commenter on another post says it much better than I can:

"They say McCain reads the blogs, so here goes --

Senator McCain- Don't let the campaign kibbitzers muddle things up.

First and foremost, Sarah Palin shares your values. She killed the bridge to nowhere. Need we say more?

As for the politics, Sarah Palin transcends geography. Her constituency, like yours, goes beyond state lines.

She will get your ticket access to voters all over the country based on who she is and what she stands for. Because she's young, a woman, a mother with young kids, she will grab media attention more than any other potential candidate.

Gov. Palin also has a son in the active duty military. You have very wisely taken your son's service in Iraq off the table as a campaign talking point. That is and should be respected. But others can talk about it and reflect on what it means.

A McCain-Palin administration would be the first in memory which has family members in uniform during wartime from both the President and Vice President. That would be a powerful statement as to the importance of national service, especially in uniform.

Most importantly, any Vice President should be ready to step up and serve in the event she is needed. Frankly, who is really ever ready? Gov. Palin is as ready as anybody, she is a quick learner, and in her public career has exhibited the courage and decisiveness needed for a great leader.

Godspeed to you in your campaign and in making this important decision."

I can see it all now, Alaska Gov Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, introducing Sarah as the next Vice President of the United States at the Republican National Convention later this summer, to the tune of Shania Twain’s “She’s Not Just a Pretty Face”.

Here it is:
