Delaware Democrat Supports Amnesty for Illegals
Amnesty John Reveals His True Intentions
Delaware Democrat John Carney Weaves into support of Eventual Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants
Those who favor some sort of amnesty…This sort of program makes sense to them….one which has some sort of path to citizenship for guest workers, Democrat Congressional candidate, John Carney stated.
“The Rule of Law is the most basic of American values”, declared Businessman Glen Urquhart, Republican candidate for Delaware’s lone U. S. House Seat in response.
We will stay a great nation with the help of immigrants, but only if they are legal immigrants. As such we must work to secure our borders, enforce employer sanctions and reject any effort to give welfare to those here illegally. We should make it more difficult for people here illegally to transfer money out of the country. Amnesty is not an answer to the illegal immigrants here now. It only encourages others to sneak in, hoping they will be put at the head of the line in front of others who are legally going through the process, stated Urquhart.
Campaign Communications Director David Anderson blasted the recent Carney statements as out of touch with Delaware values.
John Carney is running distorted negative ads falsely declaring Glen Urquhart an extremist. Now we know why. He is hiding his own extremism. His support of amnesty is the first example we will cite.
In an interview with the state’s most widely read newspaper, Democrat John Carney endorsed a guest worker program as a door way to amnesty. http://www.delawareonline.com/section/videonetwork?bctid=644269801001 At 28:42 in the clip, career politician John Carney started rightfully pointed out that the Guest worker program he is touting is a path way to “amnesty”. John Carney’s disregard for the rule of law is an extreme position that should give anyone pause before casting a ballot, said Anderson.

It is time for Courage, Fellow Patriots.
"The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in the insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding," Justice Louis D. Brandeis.
If you have ever believed it was time to stand up for Americanism, believe it now. Free enterprise, free political expression, freedom of religion, and a free and independent America are at stake in this election.
I believe that American freedom has not been under such an assault since the height of the Cold War. What is worse is that the threat is not from agents overseas, but our own leaders. It is not from those who mean us harm, but those who mean us well.
Hyperbole, No. Let me make my case.
The Regime in Washington has taken every turn to shackle the American economy. The appointed admitted Marxists and Maoists to the highest positions not requiring confirmation. They are trying to impose new restrictions on the Chesapeake watershed which could devastate the Delaware economy. They are pushing new EPA rules on carbon dioxide which would give dangerous unconstitutional power to the EPA to run every aspect of American life in an effort to scare Congress into some form of Cap and Trade. Cap and Trade would cost 2.3 million jobs and each family $1769 to make their rich cronies billions upon billions. They are pushing a tax bill which would cost Delawareans 20,ooo jobs.
They are working overtime to dismantle America's nuclear deterrent while at the same time eliminating the missile shield which was the result of two decades of work and innovation. We are a weaker nation and more vulnerable than anytime since Jimmy Carter and maybe Peril Harbor.
The courts are being packed with ACLU types who have unleashed a religious cleansing. We are on the verge of a secular/religious apartheid. The courts are trying to wipe America clear of any tradition of based upon faith. They assault the definition of marriage, they assault the right to post the Ten commandments, they assault the right to have a cross at a Veteran's cemetery, they assault the military's ability to maintain order and discipline in the middle of a war. Courts threatened to jail Americans for praying over a meal. Nativity scenes are challenged at Christmas. The mere criticism of the distortion of the so called separation of church and state is treated like a crime against the state.
They have raided the middle class to bailout their billionaire friends. We are stuck with the highest sustained unemployment since the Great Depression. The national debt is skyrocketing. We are no longer loaning it to ourselves. What foreign powers are not loaning us, we are printing. We have replaced monetary policy with the insanity that bankrupts nations.
Even the rule of law itself is under assault. The regime in Washington is trying to find backdoor ways to give amnesty to illegals and our own Amnesty John Carney has just declared his intent to back them.
Our values are under assault, our economy is undermined, and the rule of law is undervalued.
My friends it is time to get motivated. We need to fight for our country, our liberty, and our children. We need to tell our friends and our families that they need to get off the fence and in the trenches. This election is not about personalities. It is about survival. We can no longer afford the luxury of Coons, Carney, Flowers, Korn, or your local go along Democrat. The day to make a difference is November 2. If you are going to throw your vote away, stay home. If you are going to be serious, then you will vote for candidates who support the Constitution over those who would undermine it.
Those who won our independence... valued liberty as an end and as a means. They believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty. --Justice Louis Brandice
My fellow patriots, where ever you are join with me in showing that courage necessary to secure that gift of liberty. Let the ring of freedom be heard loudly across America. Let it be heard so loudly that it will be an hundred years before the clanging of the chains of socialism is ever heard again.
Forget the odds. The Voice of Truth says trust, believe, and work for victory. The day is ours.

Go See "I Want Your Money" in Theaters On October 15
Bill Smith, Editor, ARRA News Service: A Movie You CAN'T Afford to Miss. This Friday October 15, I WANT YOUR MONEY – the highly anticipated, hilarious Obama exposé that everyone is talking about - will open in movie theaters nationwide.
If you’re tired of Obama’s big-government-tax-and-spend policies, YOU WILL LOVE THIS MOVIE! I WANT YOUR MONEY is a controversial new film about the competing economic visions championed by Presidents Reagan and Obama – a duel of speeches, wit, animation and narrative that leaves audiences laughing, cheering, yelling . . . and engages them in the national conversation about the mounting national debt, and why it matters. After all, IT’S YOUR MONEY THEY ARE SPENDING.
I screened this movie and then participated in two advanced showings of the film to two very different audiences. One in Washington, D.C and one in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains. The movie resonated with both audiences and it will resonate with a majority of people except for liberal elites. Although a documentary, the movie is interspersed with animated cartoons which allows the viewer time to absorb the material and to have a laugh while points are illustrated. Without these cartoons the movie would indeed be shorter, peoples blood pressure would be elevated, and their minds would have been overtaxed with the reality of the present situation.
There is also hope in this movie as the truth is shared about socialism which is destructive to individual freedoms and the well being of people. The words of Ronald Reagan share how capitalism, individual freedom and choice raises the economic well being of all people at all income levels. Audiences will find finds themselves cheering at the end movie when the "Gipper" takes on Barack Obama.
Take your family and friends to this movie. While the November elections are upon us, this movie will help prepare people for conversations with their elected officials after the elections. It is time to hold them accountable at all levels be it Federal, State, County or City. Remember, it is "your money," your family and friends' money and the money of future generations that the government is taking and wasting.
I Want Your Money includes insightful interviews with Newt Gingrich, Steve Forbes, Ed Meese, Mike Huckabee, John Stossel, Michael Reagan, Congressmen Tom McClintock, Thad McCotter and former California governor Pete Wilson, among many others, EXPLAINING CLEARLY WHY OBAMA’S PLAN HAS FAILED, AND WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO RECOVER.

Ray McKinney’s Speech - GA-12
The Georgia 12 District has been solidly Democrat. However, Ray McKinney won the Republican primary over several opponents including having a run-off. With McKinney in the race, the NY Times as of this note has the district leaning democrat instead of solidly democrat. While McKinney has considerably less money, his message seems to be resonating among voters. In addition to his campaign staff, McKinney has in his arsenal of dedicated workers a young political activist, Ali Akbar, a young conservative activist who is respected by other conservative activist.
Ray McKinney for Congress (GA-12): It’s so good to be among my fellow Republicans today. Like you, I’m here today because of my deep love for this country. Like you, I believe our nation is on the wrong track, and there must be a change in Washington, starting with the House of Representatives.
After two years of total Democratic rule, the debt has climbed into the trillions, real unemployment is approaching 20 percent, and we are facing a real prospect of a double dip recession.
We need a change of leadership in Congress, and that change can start right here in the twelfth district by defeating Democrat incumbent John Barrow this November.
We have just completed a primary election. I know that a number of you supported one of the other excellent candidates. All four of us had the same goals: reduce spending, stop tax increases, protect life and adhere to constitutional principles that guarantee liberty and individual rights. As we move into the general election season, we must work together to achieve those goals.
I know we have a long, difficult road ahead of us. John Barrow has a lot of money. We do not. As a six year incumbent, John Barrow has pretty good name i.d. I’m not nearly as well known. But John Barrow has one big negative: his liberal voting record.
Barrow says he’s a conservative “blue dog” Democrat, and on the campaign trail he says he’s for spending cuts. But his actions in Washington tell another story. Barrow is a big spender and a job killer.
Here are some examples: He voted for legislation raising taxes and extending unemployment benefits without adhering to “pay as you go” rules. It added over $50 billion to the deficit. It also imposed a 24 cent tax on each barrel of oil – that’s 500 million dollars a year. He voted for a resolution allowing congress to spend money for the next fiscal year without passing an actual budget.
We can’t forget the one trillion dollars in so-called stimulus spending, the bailouts of GM and Chrysler, and the 700 billion dollar bank bailout. He voted for the financial institutions reform law which makes bank bailouts permanent. It also imposes taxes on banks which they pass on to the consumers.
It’s not enough for us to point out John Barrow’s job killing voting record. Voters must have a positive alternative.
That’s why I have developed a plan to restore the economy and create jobs. It includes: repealing and replacing Obamacare, immediately cutting spending by 1.3 trillion dollars, restoring the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, making the repeal of the death tax permanent, easing regulations that hinder small businesses, and removing the barriers to domestic energy development, including nuclear power and oil drilling.
I believe the voters of the twelfth district are ready for solutions that work. But I need your help. I need you to help spread the word. Others will talk today about things we can do on the grassroots level… making phone calls, going door to door, writing letters to the editor.
John Barrow has money on his side, I have you, the people, on my side. And that will propel us into victory this November.

Tampa Bay Region to Host RNC 2012
ARRA News Service - The Republican National Committee’s members unanimously voted today to ratify the recommendation of the Tampa Bay Region to host the 2012 Republican National Convention. The vote took place at the RNC’s Summer Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.
“We are excited to be holding our 2012 Convention in Tampa Bay. The Site Selection Committee worked incredibly hard to find and present the best city to our Members, and I am very pleased with the decision made today to ratify this selection,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele. “As we begin our planning efforts, we have been beyond impressed by the community’s hospitality and warm welcome, and I am confident that this will be a true team effort as we move towards 2012.”
“From the start of this process Chairman Steele and the Site Selection Committee have focused on what would be the best business deal for the RNC, the Convention, and the city. Tampa has easily met all of these challenges and more, and we are thrilled to bring the Republican Convention to Florida,” said Holly Hughes, Site Selection Chairman.
The 2012 Republican National Convention will be held the week of August 27th. In downtown Tampa, the St Pete Times Forum will serve as the Convention venue, and the Tampa Convention Center being used for the Media Workspace. It is expected that the convention will bring 45,000 people to the region in the 5 day period. It is also projected that the region will see over 150 million dollars in revenue during the convention week.
The 2012 Republican National Convention website was launched today.

More Smoke Around Crist Campaign . . .
. . . and often when there's smoke there's fire. Why did Florida Republican voters not support Gov. Charlie Crist for their party's nomination? Maybe it was because they understood the real problems associated with Jim Greer and Crist. They may have been nice enough not to have hang out the dirty laundry, but they knew which people were creating it. Obviously, based on polling numbers, they didn't want to be associate with Crist any longer. Crist has now gone Independent and he kept the money donated by Republicans donors and the Florida Republican Party! Wonder how much came from his buddy Jim Greer?
Wash Times: Crist ally arrested, accused of GOP theft
Miami Herald: GOP chief arrested in secret siphoning of cash
WaPo: Former Florida Republican chairman Jim Greer charged with defrauding party
NYT: Florida: Ex-Republican Leader Indicted
American Spectator: Crist Majordomo Charged
Buzz: Charlie Crist "owns" Jim Greer scandal sullying McCollum and others
Hill: Crist says he’s ‘lonely’ on campaign trail
Poor baby - what did he expect. Crist should give back the money both tangible and in-kind! The justice department may not have done so yet, but the public must surely see Crist as an unindited co-conspirator.

Christine O'Donnell: Great Senate Candidate
Contribute Now to Christine O'Donnell
As soldier Jim Rodgers makes clear below, it's time for American conservatives -- people who love this country -- to fish or cut bait. Please donate what you can at: http://christine2010.com/
[Note: I write regularly about the Senate race in Delaware at: http://stevemaloneygop.blogspot.som. I hope you'll visit. If you need information about assisting Christine O'Donnell, please e-mail me: TalkTop65@aol.com.
Hi friends and fellow conservatives. I would like to encourage everyone to make a monetary contribution to help Christine O'Donnell succeed in beating a RINO in the Delaware primary election. She is a candidate for Joe Biden's US Senate seat. I realize you don't live in Delaware, however her election to the Senate is critical in order for us to take our country back. Christine is a Constitutional Conservative. Delaware's primary is September 14th, only weeks before the general election. She is in a tight race against a liberal RINO and she needs our support. Please send as large or small of a donation that you can afford. I am confident she can win the general election if she can beat the RINO Mike Castle that she is up against. I can't over emphasize the importance of her winning Joe Biden's Senate seat. This would send a signal to Washington every bit as big as the signal sent by Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts. Below is her site where you can make a contribution and help in other ways if you desire. Thank you for your support. Jim Rodgers

Pastor Stephen Broden: “Michael Steele is Wrong.”
Duane Lester (All American Blogger) and Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) attended Winning America Back event in Independence, Missouri. Wish I could have been there; there was a great list of speakers. But one of the people that caught their attention was Pastor Stephen Broden who did the opening prayer for the event. Broden is the Republican conservative candidate for Congress in Texas’ 30th District against socialist Eddie Bernice Johnson.
Duane and Jim caught up with Pastor Broden and asked him about Michael Steele’s assertion that black Americans didn’t have a reason to vote for Republicans. Duane recorded the question and Broden's response which you will find revealing and on target. Michale Steele is not on the right track but Stephen Broden and numerous other conservative blacks are on the right track and waiting for Steele to join them. Please view the video. In summary, to quote Broden, “Michael Steele, you are wrong!”

Christine O'Donnell: America's Favorite Daughter
Christine O'Donnell with Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann at CPAC.
My friend Christine O'Donnell is running for the US Senate seat in Delaware against the most liberal Republican in the House, Mike Castle. His goal now is to become the most liberal Republican in the Senate.
Cap-and-trade? Mike Castle is for it. Repeal of Obama's health care monstrosity? Castle is against it. Huge Obama spending bills? Castle is for them. More money for the UN? Castle loves the idea. Bailouts for reckless banks? Castle thinks they're a capital idea.
In the words of Christine, "the last thing the Senate needs is one more liberal." She calls liberals "post-Americans." That doesn't mean they're anti-U.S. . . . just that they believe America is no big deal, just another nation in the alphabet that runs from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
Christine may be the most unlikely candidate in a generation to run for the US Senate. She's not, unlike Castle, a millionaire. She doesn't live, unlike Castle, in a mansion. She lives in a townhouse.
She's not, unlike Castle, a career politician -- he was first elected in 1966, well before Christine was born. He's part of the "old Delaware" aristocracy, where she's the Irish-Italian offspring (one of six kids) from a blue-collar family. He's a member of the dwindling GOP establishment, where she's as antiestablishment as they come.
As I said in one of my recent pieces about her, she's a "love-thy-neighbor-period" type of Christian. She's a conservative who believes that capitalists (especially those on Wall Street) are sometimes their own worst enemies.
Can Christine really win in a Blue state like Delaware, one that reelected Joe Biden in an almost Pavlovian way? Let me ask another question: was there any possibility an unknown like Scott Brown could win in Deep-Blue Massachusetts?
In 2008, Christine ran a "sacrificial lamb" campaign against Joe Biden (also running for "his" Senate seat). He outspent her 42-to-1. But she ending up getting 140,500 votes, 35,000 more than any Republican candidate had garnered against Biden in his previous five races. The MSM ignored her, but the voters didn't.
Christine certainly can win if we part with some hard-earned cash necessary to get her message out. She can win if bloggers and online communicators let everyone know -- today -- that she deserves to win, just as you did with Scott Brown.
And she can win if people sacrifice their hard-earned vacation time to go to Delaware, as many of you did in Massachusetts. An army of volunteers can overcome her opponent Castle's Mt. Everest of cash. He has the special interest groups -- all of them. Christine has us, you and me.
Castle got his cash from special interests, including Wall Street banks and law firms who do their bidding. Christine will spend one-fifth as much money as Castle, but will do so five times more wisely.
I'm asking every activist in America to "adopt" this good woman. Her race will be the most-exciting -- and eventually the most-talked-about in the country. She is in every way the real deal.
I'm asking you to make sacrifices of time and money for Christine O'Donnell. That's the same thing as asking you to make sacrifices for the country she loves -- and we love.
If you can sent $10, please do so. If you can send $20 or even $50, please fire away. https://secure.donortownsquare.com/SSL/donate.aspx?sgst=-1&amt=50&ai=670&qs=WHT

Ballad of the Tea Party - Sung by Joel Pollak (R-IL-9)
Written and Performed by Joel Pollak (R)
Nominee for Congress - 9th District, Illinois
Chicago Tax Day Tea Party - April 15, 2010
On a cold night in Boston, three ships in the dock With their valuable cargo still waiting to stock But the colonists wont pay the duty on tea And the governor wont let the ships out to sea Chorus: Sing - hey, hey, what do we say? American freedom is here to stay! Hey, hey, what do we say? Don't tax our freedom away! Now the Crown has been adding new fees by the score And the people don't think they can bear any more Yet they don't have a vote, so they don't have a say And they're starting to talk about breaking away (Chorus) | Now the people have gathered round the Old Meeting House If the governor listens, they'll still hear him out But Sam Adams, he reads the report with a frown So the people decide that the tea must do down (Chorus) So they don their disguises and clamber aboard And the governors tea is soon tossed overboard And the news spreads throughout the thirteen colonies That our country's new motto is Don't Tread On Me. (Chorus) Now today we have gathered--young, old, black, and white And we've all got the vote, so we don't need to fight But if Washington taxes our future away Then well throw them all out on Election Day! (Chorus) |

Your Taxes: Their Spending - Prepare for the Largest Tax Increases in History
Tomorrow is Tax Day, Earth Day and thank goodness for those opposed to all these taxes: a self-proclaimed TEA Party Day. The Obama Administration's spending in the past year has been unprecedented and Tax Day won't come and go quietly. In just over a year, Democrats in Washington have proposed trillions of dollars in new taxes on American Families -- and passed hundreds of billions in new taxes to pay for their government takeover of our health care. These new taxes affect you and your family -- every day.

Dana Loesch Vs. Chris Matthews
Video unreliable, also available at Newsbusters -> http://newsbusters.org/people/dana-loesch
Finally, someone succinctly makes the point that both sides of the political spectrum have their crazies, and that pigeonholing all the people that have problems with the health care legislation as radical or racist is intellectually dishonest. Best moment of the interview is when Chris Matthews mutters under his breath "this isn't working."

Delaware Battleground: O'Donnell v. Castle
Hey Friends: Run, don't walk to the supercool RepealCastle web site -- www.repealcastle.com -- and write a message to Rep. Mike Castle, who sometimes masquerades as a Republican, about his total refusal to support repeal of the ObamaCare monster. We'll make sure the most creative and insightful messages to Mike get wide distribution.
Castle's now going around touting the "good" parts of the health care, such as allowing "children" to stay on their parents' health insurance until their hair turns gray and they get arthritis.
Of course, the only business in America left for the government to take over is Piper Palin's lemonade stand. And somehow tens of millions of people don't have jobs, and companies are cutting to the bone the health benefits they give employees. Some "reform."
Mike Castle supports cap-and-trade, which would damage not only us . . . but harm the biggest manufacturing business in his state, DuPont. Maybe he's been in the Beltway so long that he forgot DuPont was in Delaware?
Anyway, check out www.repealcastle.com. And take a look at the cool stuff at the bottom of the site page . . . related to the campaign of Castle's conservative Republican opponent, Christine O'Donnell.
Take my word, Christine will "Scott Brown" (new verb!) Castle. Knowing Christine well, I can say she's probably the most likable and decent candidate for the Senate I've ever encountered. Can she take the "Joe Biden" seat the way Scott took the "Teddy Kennedy seat?" The smart folks aren't betting against this charismatic young woman.
Sign up at repealcastle and be at your most creative in writing him a message. All of them will be delivered (and otherwise publicized).
If we all get behind Christine, a sold conservative, then we'll be talking on November 2 about "the Delaware Miracle." She can use your help. And America needs this feisty conservative.
P.S. Let your friends and allies know about http://www.repealcastle.com/. They'll love it.
PPS, Christine will be on FOX Business News at 7 p.m. on Monday.

"Remember the Alamo" Then and "Remember 3/21: Now!
by Ron Russell, TOTUS Most in this country know the phrase, "Remember the Alamo" and certainly all Texans know that rallying battle cry! The defeat at the Alamo marked the beginning of the war for Texas independence. A war that would end with the crowning victory at San Jacinto and an independent and free Texas.
Yesterday in Washington the forces of individualism suffered a great defeat at the hands of the over-whelming forces in the House combined with the might of the Executive Branch. The two hundred or so beleaguered members of the House could not withstand the onslaught of the vast army arrayed against them. Their walls were breached by back room deals, presidential promises and favors, and blatant bribery on a scale never seen before in American politics. In the end they were overwhelmed and crushed and their flag of patriotism trampled beneath the tyrant's feet.
But from the ashes of that defeat, a new battle cry will be heard, a new call to arms. Just as the Texans of long ago screamed "remember the Alamo" as they charged the forces of tyranny; the ever growing forces of Individualism, of Patriotism will raise a new battle cry: "Remember 3/21" as they drive the forces of collectivism and Marxism from the field and achieve that Crowning Victory!

PRO-LIFE DEM - WHAT A JOKE
Health Care Vote Set to Expose the Myth of the 'Pro-Life Democrat'
Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the conservative grassroots public policy organization Eagle Forum, made the following remarks after the public announcement that formerly pro-life Democrat Bart Stupak (D-MI) will cast a "yes" vote for the Senate health care bill today in the House.Phyllis Schlafly: It is naive for any elected official, especially one who describes himself as 'pro-life,' to expect that a promise to issue an Executive Order that reasserts the intentions of the Hyde Amendment will be fulfilled by the most pro-abortion president to ever sit in the White House. Perhaps Mr. Stupak and his fellow pro-life Democrats forget that President Obama's first Executive Order was the repeal of the Mexico City Policy to allow for international funding of abortion.
Not only would an Executive Order be rendered meaningless in the face of Congress passing legislation which actively provides for the massive expansion and funding of abortion services, but anyone who doubts the abortion tsunami which awaits this bill becoming law lives in a fantasy world.
Barack Obama has lined every existing federal agency with the most dedicated pro-abortion ideologues, and we know that he will continue this pattern of pro-abortion appointments when it comes time for him to fill the over-100 bureaucracies created to administer his socialized health care program.
Any formerly pro-life Democrat who casts a 'Yes' vote for this Senate health care bill tonight will be forever remembered as being among the deciding votes which facilitated the largest expansion of abortion services since Roe v. Wade." "Mr. Stupak and his Democrat followers have now clarified that you cannot be pro-life and be a Democrat. If abortion was truly their biggest issue, they wouldn't willfully align themselves with the Party of Death.
This vote will expose the myth of the "pro-life Democrat." With this single vote, the Democratic Party will divide our nation into the Party of Death and the Party of Life, and future elections will never be the same.

Christine O'Donnell; Delaware Battleground
Christine O'Donnell, who ran for the US Senate against Joe Biden in 2008, is running again this year against ultimate RINO, career politician and mega-millionaire Michael Castle. What's not to like about Christine, a devout Catholic, a fiscal and social conservative, and a strikingly beautiful woman?
The Castle Campaign doesn't like Christine O'Donnell one bit. They wish Christine would go away, that she wouldn't stand in the way of Castle's election -- or, call it his "coronation." Sadly, a few segments of the local media have been carrying water for Castle and spreading gossip and innuendos about her.
Christine is not a rich woman by any means. She grew up in a poor family, one with six children. She said recently that one of the early lessons she learned in life was that it was "hard." Christine doesn't complain, doesn't ever try to play the role of the victim. But she would agree with the famous comment of another Irish-American political figure, John F. Kennedy, that "life is unfair."
Christine probably also would agree with the statement by Jason Chaffetz, the superb freshman congressman from Utah. He said, "You shouldn't have to be a millionaire to run for Congress." Chaffetz sleeps in his office, showers in the House gym, and eats in the cafeteria. Mormon Jason knows, as does Catholic Christine O'Donnell, that life isn't always a bed of flowers..
A story that's been making the rounds this week in Delaware is that -- one time -- Christine's debit card was rejected. In the minds of a few Delawareans -- and in the small mind of Mike Castle, who's almost certainly the source of the story -- that says something bad about Christine.
Barack Obama would sympathize with Christine. In 2000, at the Democrat National Convention, he tried to rent a car. He couldn't, because his credit card, maxxed out, was rejected.
Was that the last we ever saw of Obama? Obviously not. At the 2004 Democrat Convention, he gave the keynote address. In that year, he was elected to the US Senate (take heart, Christine), and in 2008 he was nominated for president. He doesn't have to worry about his credit card balances ever again.
Another story spread about Christine is that she was left over with campaign debt -- a piddling amount -- from her 2008 battle against Biden. In fact, any challenger for a federal office who doesn't have campaign debt obviously wasn't trying to win -- and anyone who knows Christine understands that winning was her only goal.
Campaign debt: Barack Obama raised a staggering amount, $700 mllion, but he had debt left over after he won the presidency. As for campaign debt, Hillary Clinton ended her bid for the presidency with a debt exceeding $22 million.
As late as mid-2009, Mrs. Clinton was still millions in debt. Of course, she and her husband have a net worth in excess of $100 million, so "debt" is perhaps a misnomer.
If Christine O'Donnell were as rich as her opponent -- Mike Castle -- she would never have another financial worry in her life. Castle's net worth (OpenSecrets.org) is as high as $7.8 milion. Even at that level, however, he's "only" the 55th wealthiest member of the House. In the Senate, which he'd serve in if Christine weren't going to beat him, his $7.8 million would be chump change to people like Kerry, Herb Kohl, and Jay Rockefeller, to name a few.
Christine isn't a millionaire, and maybe never will be one (although I wouldn't bet against her). But as Cong. Chaffetz indicated, there's no constitutional requirement that a US Senator be rich. In fact, if we had a few more normal Americans -- like Christine -- in Congress perhaps they wouldn't be spending so much of our money, while retaining all of their own.
In important ways, in fact, Christine is rich -- in the depth of her conservative political philosophy, in the quality of the lessons she's learned from life, and in the abundance of friends she has (of whom I'm proud to be one).
Conservatives around the nation should embrace the candidacy of this outstanding American woman. Christine O'Donnell will make a great US Senator from Delaware. Other states should be so lucky to have such a person running for high office. Let's make it happen!

IL and DE Up For Grabs
President Obama and Vice President Biden both come from very blue Democrat states, yet the seats they vacated upon entering the executive branch are leaning towards the Republican candidates in the latest polls. While Republicans are expected to pick up seats at the midterm elections some are now questioning whether they take control outright in what would a political shocker. CBS reports GOP Eyes 2010 Senate Takeover
President's and Vice President's Senate Seats Could Both Be Picked Off By Republicans
Beyond Illinois and Indiana, Democratically-held Senate seats in Pennsylvania, Colorado, Arkansas and Nevada -- where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid faces a tough race -- could be very competitive, according to Salvanto's analysis.
Republicans cheered when North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan announced his surprise retirement, giving Republicans a good chance for another pick up. It was also good news for the GOP when Vice President Joe Biden's son Beau announced he would not run for his father's old Senate seat, leaving Republican Rep. Mike Castle the best-positioned candidate to win in Delaware. Democrats are now backingNew Castle County Executive Chris Coons to run against Castle.
"I predict to you that Chris Coons is going to surprise the devil out of them," Joe Biden told MSNBC. Castle, however, soundly beat Coons in the most recent polls, the Hill reports.

Illinois Senate Seat Concerns Dems
Excerpt from the NYT Illinois Senate Race Worries Democrats Anew
White House Worried About Senate Race in Illinois
CHICAGO — Alexi Giannoulias, the treasurer of Illinois and a basketball-playing friend of President Obama’s, won the Democratic primary here on Tuesday for the Senate seat once held by Mr. Obama. But his victory was hardly the free throw some had expected, setting off a new round of worrying among Democrats that the reliably Democratic seat might be picked off by Republicans in November.

With four others on the ballot, Mr. Giannoulias won 39 percent of the Democratic vote, or, as Republicans preferred to describe it on Wednesday, lost 61 percent of it. A little-known former federal prosecutor who had never run for office, David Hoffman, came within six percentage points of Mr. Giannoulias.
With much on the line here, including the symbolism of the president’s home state possibly slipping away, some Democrats were concerned that the party had played into the game plan of the Republicans, who chose Representative Mark Steven Kirk, a centrist-leaning suburbanite who hopes to appeal to the state’s independent voters and even some moderate Democrats.
Already Wednesday morning, the National Republican Senatorial Committee had issued a Web video mocking Mr. Giannoulias, 33, for what it described as questionable loans made by his family’s bank, his ties to Rod R. Blagojevich, the indicted former governor of Illinois, and more.
“Is this change we can believe in?” the video asks.
Mr. Obama called Mr. Giannoulias to congratulate him on his victory, aides said, but despite the friendship, the White House indicated in the past that it had reservations about his candidacy. At one point, White House officials tried without success to recruit another Democrat, Lisa Madigan, the state attorney general, even after Mr. Giannoulias had made his aspirations clear.
Mr. Obama, who endorsed no one in the primary, has pledged to party officials to do what he can to help keep the seat in Democratic hands. But aides said the president would invest his time and efforts in races across the country and not necessarily devote more attention to the contest for his former seat.

Kirk Ready for Tough Fight in Senate Race
From Chicago Sun-Times Whole nation will be watching brutal campaign
Fight Brewing for Illinois Senate Seat
"We all know that over the past year a quiet despair has descended on the State of Illinois," Kirk said. "A governor arrested, a senator seat disgraced, corruption rampant, unemployment rising and families struggling. The people of Illinois now see the arrogance of a one-party state."
On Tuesday night, the NRSC issued a Web ad highlighting Giannoulias' ties to Blagojevich and felon Tony Rezko titled, "Making Tony Soprano Proud."
Kirk is a five-term congressman from the north suburban 10th district with a Democratic tilt. Giannoulias started framing Kirk as a "Washington insider" Tuesday night and talking about job creation.
Giannoulias is the opponent the Republicans wanted. The Illinois Senate campaign will be unfolding at the same time Blagojevich's corruption trial starts this summer. Giannoulias starts the campaign against Kirk wounded by the primary.
Giannoulias, a basketball player -- he has shot hoops with Obama -- has the confidence of a jock and could needle Kirk. Kirk comes off like the smartest guy in the class and wants everyone to know it. Neither Giannoulias nor Kirk should be underestimated.

Christmas Day Bomber Debacle
Senator Collins does an excellent job in laying out the problems in the handling of the Attempted Christmas Day Bomber in the following video. There has been little reason given by those who want terrorists tried in civilian courts as to why military tribunals are not adequate. There is a media perception that military tribunals are 'less fair,' but that has not been backed up by evidence. The complaints under the Bush administration were legitimate because there was no timeline for detainees to be tried. That was rectified with the bipartisan vote to institute military tribunals. Those who want civilian trails would be wise to answer the questions, 'Why civilian courts?' and 'Why are military courts not suitable?'

Reid Labeled The Most Vulnerable Incumbent
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL: Sen. Harry Reid is holding a reservations-only forum at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas today to talk about health care, a divisive subject that has contributed to his new status as ''most vulnerable incumbent'' in 2010, according to a top political tracker.
Reid's unpopularity with his home state crowd is nothing new; his poll numbers have been plunging ever since he became Senate majority leader and began leading the Democratic Party's efforts to reform the nation's health care system as promised by President Barack Obama.
What's new is that Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., announced Wednesday that he wouldn't run for re-election, which means Reid now replaces Dodd as the Democrat most likely to lose in what the Cook Political Report shows as ''toss-up'' Senate races. "Reid is now the most vulnerable incumbent based mostly on poll numbers,'' Cook's Jennifer Duffy said. She noted that he's trailing in early opinion surveys against two Republicans: Sue Lowden, ex-chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party and a former state senator, and businessman Danny Tarkanian, a former UNLV basketball star. More than a half-dozen other lesser-known Republicans also are challenging Reid. . . .
Reid spokesman Jon Summers dismissed outside surveys, saying, "Our internal polling shows us beating all of our potential opponents'' without offering details. "Senator Reid is focused on creating jobs in Nevada and getting the state's economy back on track,'' he added.
In early December, a poll commissioned by the Las Vegas Review-Journal showed 50 percent of Nevadans disapproved of Reid's efforts to get a health care bill through the Senate. Some 39 percent approved and 11 percent weren't sure. Mason-Dixon conducted the survey of 625 registered voters. . . . [Full Story]

DailyKos Says Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln Should Retire
Rasmussen Reports reveals that Arkansas Blanche Lincoln's popularity has not improved. In fact, "Lincoln are pretty much the same as last year’s while she prepares to face Arkansas voters in November." A new Rasmussen Reports survey shows that "Lincoln’s support for reelection at 38% or 39% no matter which of four potential Republican challengers she is matched against. . . . The two-term senator, who was reelected with 54% of the vote in 2004, appears more vulnerable because of her visible and pivotal role in the Senate debate over health care. Lincoln was the last Democrat to vote for allowing the debate to formally begin . . ."
Daily Kos, a liberal democrat progressive Obama site, responds, "The closer those incumbents were to 50 percent, the more likely they were to survive. Lincoln, stuck at around 40 percent, is in dire straits. No incumbent dipping into the 30s survived in '06 or '08. Quite simply, she is unelectable. Democrats have a thick bench in Arkansas, and could make a serious bid to hold the seat. But Lincoln won't pull it off. She's toast. If Lincoln cares about her state and her party, she'll do the honorable thing like Chris Dodd and retire. Otherwise, let's hope Lt. Gov. Bill Halter forcefully retires her in a primary."
